SEA JULIETT SUCCESFULLY ASSISTS WITH WRECK REMOVAL OF ATLANTIC PEACH

On January 2nd the containership ‘Atlantic Peach’ (built 2009, 12,015 dwt) ran aground at the breakwater of the Tripoli sea port, Libya. The Atlantic Peach was carrying about 150 containers and was en route to Khoms, Libya. While the Atlantic Peach ran aground, 14 crew members were on board. At request of the captain and considering the bad weather conditions, all crew members were safely evacuated and taken in the custody of the authorities of the Tripoli Port. Several re-floating attempts of the ship has failed.

KOOLE was awarded the contract for the wreck removal in May 2019. The Sea Juliett, a Damen built Shoalbuster 3209, who was added to the Seacontractors fleet the same month, directly left Ijmuiden to mobilize equipment to Tripoli. The Sea Juliett arrived in Tripoli early June and finished the assistance of the wreck removal of Atlantic Peach neatly and safely mid. November 2019.
